| Ever been in this spot, you get out of bed and sprint to to make up some of your lost minutes. After getting to your automobile you have made up a little time. This puts you about 20 minutes behind instead of a half hour. You get in the vehicle and step on the gas. Traffic is bad of coure, you knew that before you went to bed but your later than normal and this makes things worse, much worse. All that time you had save by rushing out the door seems futile as you sit in your automobile cursing the traffic because you will now be so late you wish you would have stayed home. Has this daily grind been getting to you. The good news is that this might become a thing of the past. Several new start up manufacturers are racing each other to produce the worlds first mass produced flying car. The flying cars have been said to be the end to all of our traffic worries. Seems impossible, but Terrafugia and Moller, which are leading the way seem to think that these vehicles will be ready in the very near future. These manufacturers all feel they are very close to being the first. Some of these producers have working prototypes, with the Terrafugia already in working trial flights. The concept isn't new by any means. Companies like Moller have been working on this for some time. Aerocar out of Longview Washington had actually built several working models in the 1940's but mass production was never achieved. Terrafugia, whos flying vehicle actually resembles the old flying car from Washington, believes they will have a mass production vehicle ready within two years. The price for this luxury flying automobile will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $150,000.00. Thats not bad considering the price of standard vehicles these days. Definitely not out of everyones price range. It won't take to many of these to ease traffic, If one in ten people used this type of vehicle to get to work, not only would their commute be a smooth ride, just think of what it would do to everyone elses. It seems that the Jetsons were on the right track and we may soon be there as well. | |
